Robert Connolly is best known as the director and writer of THE BANK
and THREE DOLLARS, and producer, with John Maynard, of the award-winning
film, THE BOYS.
THE BOYS, had its world premiere In Competition, Berlin International
Film Festival 1998. It was nominated for 13 AFI Awards including Best
Film, and won awards for Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best
Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.
THE BANK, Roberts first feature as director and writer had its world
premiere in the Discovery Section at the Toronto International Film Festival
and Zabaltegi section of the San Sebastian Film Festival. The opening
night film for the Melbourne International Film Festival, it also screened
at over thirty international film festivals. THE BANK was nominated for
9 Australian Film Institute (AFI) Awards including Best Film, Best Director
and Robert won the Best Original Screenplay Award.
THREE DOLLARS opened Australia-wide in April 2005 to critical acclaim
and box-office success, with the highest screen average in Australia in
its opening week.
In 1998 he was named by Variety Magazine as one of the 10 best emerging
producers in the world.
